Icondex Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-22
Icondex is a local-first macOS app. It is built so that your icon library and how you use it stay on your Mac. This policy explains, plainly, what that means.
The short version
Icondex collects nothing about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no usage tracking, and no crash reporting. The app contacts a Crea Visual SpA server only to check for updates — and even then it sends no information about you or how you use the app. See "Network connections" below.
What stays on your Mac
Everything. Specifically:
- Your icon library — the SVG files and the metadata index (
.icondex-index.json) live in a folder you choose (by default~/Pictures/Icondex/). - Your preferences — stored in the standard macOS preferences system.
- Diagnostic logs — plain-text logs in
~/Library/Logs/that you can read or delete at any time.
None of this is transmitted anywhere.
Files Icondex accesses
Icondex reads the files you point it at:
- The library folder you choose.
- Your Downloads folder, if you enable auto-import, to detect new SVGs.
- Folders you explicitly import or scan.
macOS asks for your permission before granting this access.
Network connections
Icondex works offline. It makes network connections in two situations:
- Checking for updates. Icondex can check whether a new version is available by requesting an update feed from
icondex.slides.cl. On first launch it asks whether these checks should happen automatically; you can decline, and a manual "Check for Updates…" is always available. Like any web request, our server may record standard request data such as your IP address and the app version; we do not use this to identify or track you, and Icondex does not send a system profile. - Installing icon libraries. When you use the icon-library catalog to browse or install a library (Lucide, Heroicons, Phosphor, and others), Icondex downloads icon files and preview images directly from the original sources — GitHub and the npm registry. Those connections are between your Mac and those third parties, subject to their own privacy policies.
Crea Visual SpA does not receive any data about how you use the app.
Purchasing Icondex
Icondex is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the seller of record. When you buy a license, Lemon Squeezy processes your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy. Crea Visual SpA receives only the information needed to issue and support your license (such as your email address and license key). We do not receive your full payment card details.
Apple Keynote integration
The "Send to Keynote" feature uses macOS automation to place an icon into Keynote on your Mac. This happens entirely on your computer. No data leaves your Mac.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at https://icondex.slides.cl with a new "Last updated" date.
